The Team Behind
the Dream.......
Polar Adventures
The Intercontinental Golf Tournament (IGT) is organized by Polar Running Adventures, led by renowned polar adventurer and sports event organizer Richard Donovan. The team includes top sports photographers, videographers, golfers and a network of associate specialists, including the world’s foremost logistics operators and air charter companies.
Richard is a trailblazer in the practice of harnessing global logistics as part of major sports events across all 7 continents.
In addition to serving as a race director at world and commonwealth athletics championships for ultramarathon running, he has organized over 40 expeditions to the North Pole and Antarctica. Richard is the mastermind behind multiple events spanning 7 continents within 7 days, delivering consistent results. Under his management, hundreds have been inspired to complete marathons across the globe within a one-week time frame, and over 1,400 athletes have competed in the polar regions.
Now a distinguished member of The Explorers Club, Richard’s performance has matched his management. He etched his name in history in 2002 by becoming the first person to run marathons at both the North and South Poles. In 2012, he astounded the athletic community by setting a new world record (under 5 days) for running 7 marathons on 7 continents. Over decades, he has established a consistent pedigree in completing continental-scale runs, including his solo Boston – Santa Monica run in 2022.
Richard is also an accomplished scholar, holding graduate degrees in Economics from institutions in the US and Europe. He was conferred with a Doctorate in Project Management in 2020.
Long-range events require an understanding of complex systems and human experience. An excellent working relationship with logistics companies is essential, and Richard’s relationships with a global network of established partners delivers the experience.
